‘I’ve found loads of [Second World War bombs], just none in this country!’

When the Nazi War Diggers’ Kris Rodgers (Addicted to Bleeps (or Addictedtobleeps) posted a YouTube video guide to getting British farmers’ permission to metal-detect on their land, Armpitchair commented, ‘WW2 bomb lol if you found one of them mueseums would go ape shit for getting there hands on it’. (No, foreign speakers of English, it’s not your fault that Armpitchair is difficult to understand…) Rodgers replied, ‘I’ve found loads of them, just none in this country!’ In which countries, then?

I only ask, because the bombs don’t appear on his Facebook page, which dates back to the 29th of November 2012; and they don’t appear in any of his 97 YouTube videos, which date back to the 25th of August 2010, spanning more than three-and-a-half years of metal detecting, when he’s only been metal-detecting for four.

In fact, his only mentions of metal detecting abroad are mentions of metal detecting with Nazi War Diggers: revealing that he’s been ‘recording a pilot [TV test show]…. in Latvia, on a WW2 Battlefield‘; revealing that he’s ‘been filming for a TV show in the East of Europe the past few weeks, digging up dead bodies!‘; revealing that he’s been ‘filming a show in Latvia and Poland…. digging up lots of things that go bang, and plenty of other things’; sharing ‘the first article about the show [he’s] been filming‘; sharing ‘the first video from the show, guys!’ He ‘[couldn’t] mention what happened [t]here…, because [he was] under contract’.

Key questions

Now, obviously, other videos may have been disappeared. ‘I’m now a TV presenter!‘? ‘This video is now unavailable.‘ You don’t say! Human bone removal? Automatic url redirect. Never! Still, in light of his colleague’s confession and collection, it’s only reasonable to ask:

1. In which foreign countries has Kris Rodgers found, detected and/or dug up archaeological artefacts from the Second World War?

2. In which circumstances has Kris Rodgers found, detected and/or dug up archaeological artefacts from the Second World War abroad?

3. Has Kris Rodgers kept any of the finds from the Second World War that he has found, detected and/or dug up abroad?

4. As I asked on Twitter without reply: ‘Did you dig outside work hours @theblogofkris?’

5. As I also asked on Twitter without reply: ‘Did y’know @craiggottlieb dug up, kept&took helmets, etc. from Latvia?’
